These first two pictures are of the 4x800. Avery ran the first leg this time, so he could have more time to rest before the mile. There was only one race in between, and it was one of the shorter races. 
This is the last part of the mile. Avery and this other kid battled it out until the very last sec. The race was so close that I wasn't sure who won until they handed the number 1 to Avery. He loves a photo finish!

How much faster would he be were it not for the 7 1/2 lbs of metal in that kid's mouth? Congratulations, Avery! I love the neon shoes; they are so retro 80's! Can't believe you couldn't have found your size in purple though, bummer.
