I'm tired of sick people.
Avery has been home sick all week, and he'll be home again tomorrow. I thought he might get to go back today, but then he woke up with a fever. Ugh. He has felt worse today than he has all week, with the exception of Monday night when he woke up with a really high fever. I don't know what he has. Keith took him to the doctor yesterday, and they said it's a virus of some sort. Isn't it always a stupid virus?! Of course, because then all you can do is wait. On top of it all, we're supposed to go to Florida tomorrow. Keith's Mama is at his parents' house, so we're going to visit with her. I hate to bring sick kids to be around her. I'm really hoping that Avery will wake up feeling better, and be fever free tomorrow. Chloe had a really low grade fever this afternoon, so I'm hoping that she doesn't come down with whatever Avery has.

Snow day...kind of

Technically the kids didn't really have a snow day on Monday, but we made one anyway! They were supposed to go in two hours late, but I decided that a snow like this doesn't happen very often, so I let them stay home. Of course, now I have a sick one at home, so that's probably my payback. Actually letting him stay home just means that we didn't share whatever crud he has with his class. They should be thanking me!! Ok, enough of that. The kids had a blast in the snow. They were able to go out twice, which really worked well because the snow didn't pack at all in the morning, but it did in the afternoon. Avery was able to make his fort in the morning because the snow had melted a little on Sunday, but it refroze over night. Then the boys made Chloe a snowman, and she was thrilled. She just stood there staring at it. She named it Frosty, of course!
We have really enjoyed the snow, and actually still have some on the ground. Frosty and the fort are hanging in there, but I'm sure they'll be gone by this afternoon. Chloe keeps checking on Frosty to see if he's melted.

Snow!!

We finally got some snow! Keith had to go to guard and the kids were at my sister's house, so I went outside by myself. I had to get some pictures. We still have quite a bit on the ground, but the roads are fine. Even so, schools are two hours late tomorrow. I really hate that. Just let them out for a snow day! I never liked two hours late when I was a kid, and I still think it's silly. It's not like they're really going to get anything accomplished. The boys are already asking me if they have to go!! They know me too well!

Five pounds of chocolate!

This is what happens when you go to Cracker Barrel with grandparents. You end up with a five pound Hershey bar. Avery tried to convince me to get it, but of course that wasn't happening. I wasn't aware that my parents got it for him after we left. They delivered it to him last night, and as you can see, he was pretty happy. I still can't believe that we have this in our house. Thankfully for Avery (and for myself) I can pretty easily resist a Hershey's. Otherwise it would disappear slowly while he was at school!! :)
Mom, if you couldn't resist Avery looking so pitiful, please don't ever take Chloe ANYWHERE! Seriously! Well, you can take her places, but not anywhere that sells anything!! :)

Avery lost a tooth!
I know this seems like a post about a 5 or 6 year old, but it's really about an 11 year old. He lost a molar last week, and it's only the third tooth he's lost on his own. He's had all the others pulled. Apparently none of his other teeth were ready to come out when they needed to, because when they were pulled the roots were huge! They were nowhere near ready to fall out. I was really excited about this tooth coming out on it's own! Avery's had a lot of work done on his mouth already, and there's more to come when all of his teeth come in. We've had a nice break from the orthodontist. It's fun to just enjoy the simple things, like teeth falling out like they're supposed to!!
I thought about trying to add a picture, but since it's towards the back, it's kind of hard to see.

Before pictures

I'm still trying to get an after picture, but I wanted to go ahead and put these on here. The hair has become a major issue around here. Avery wants it long and shaggy, Keith wants it short and clean cut, and I want it somewhere in the middle. It's been a problem. I really think it looks better with a little length. Avery's hair is so thick, it just doesn't lay down well when it's short. Keith just wants him to brush it on a regular basis. So, I took him to get it cut this week. He was pretty good about it even though he wasn't especially happy....until I asked to have just a little more cut in the front. I really liked how his hair looked except for the fact that I still couldn't see his eyes. Anyway, now that it's been a few days, I think we're all fairly happy with the results. He even asks Keith to brush it every morning! Ahh...finally some peace!
I'll try to get the after picture on here tonight or tomorrow. I know you're all holding your breath!! :)
