Snow, snow and more snow!

We have had more snow this winter than I remember ever having. Of course my memory isn't all that great, so that's not saying much, but still...it's definitely more snow than recent years. We've enjoyed playing in it, but we've also felt a bit of cabin fever. I think if this was a normal winter for us, then we would be a little more prepared for it, and in turn have more fun. Still one of my favorite things is just watching the snow fall. I have trouble walking away from the window sometimes because it's so pretty! Like right now, I'm looking out my back door just watching it snow...again. It's just flurries today, but it's still so beautiful.
These pictures are from two nights ago. We weren't even supposed to get any snow, but we did. It was probably the prettiest snow ever! The flakes were huge, and it started accumulating quickly. I loved how it looked on the trees. I'm glad I got pictures when I did, because shortly after, it started raining, and by the morning all the snow was gone.
I wonder what else this winter has in store for us?

What's a short girl to do?!

This is why I married my husband... because he can reach stuff that we keep on top of the cabinets! (not really, but it sounds good for this post!) This past Sat. I was making his birthday cake, and needed the cake taker. Then I remembered that it was on top of the pantry. I was here by myself because Keith was at guard, and the kids were at my sister's, otherwise I would have let Avery get it for me. I have a step stool that I have to use on a regular basis just to reach stuff in the top of the pantry, but not even that was helpful. I had to stand on a chair to get onto the counter, and I could still barely reach it! I just knew I was going to fall, and there would be no one here to help me!! Thankfully, I was able to get the cake taker without any injuries, and the cake made it safely to it's destination!!

(picture taken from the floor for dramatic purposes)

ahh...there it is.

I think we need a new car.

Chloe and I were on the way home from taking the boys to school this morning, when she says, "I think we need to get a new car. We need a looking better one. Not a van." Already?! Then she continues, "We need one with five seats. Does a slug bug or a cruiser bruiser have five seats? We also need a different color." She changes a little as she goes along, and decides that it can be a van still, but just a different color. Since when do four year olds care about what car they ride in?

Boys will be boys...I guess.

This is what happens when you have two boys outside throwing snowballs at each other. Not just any snowballs, but icy ones. This was the day after getting a thick layer of ice on top of the snow. It abruptly ended the snowball fight.
a side note...look at those eyes! I wonder what he was thinking?!

You know you've been stuck in the house too long when...

  • finding $9 in the laundry is the most exciting thing to happen in nearly a week
  • you find a hole in two pair of pajama pants and in your favorite houseshoes
  • you take a shower and get dressed (in jeans and a sweater), and your son asks why you're dressed
  • you're excited about getting out, if only to take your child to the doctor (not happy about the sick child part though)
  • you start wondering if maybe you should look for a job (not really, i'm too lazy for that!)
  • cleaning the house actually feels good
  • you wonder why it's so stinking bright outside
  • you normally love winter, but start dreaming about spring
  • you feel like crying when you get the call that school is out...again
  • you think about sending the sick child back to school regardless of his fever (100% joking about this one. it's a soapbox issue for me.)
  • you can't remember the last time you left the house to go somewhere other than the grocery store or the doctor's office
  • you aren't normally a big planner, but find yourself craving routine
So, some of these might be a slight exaggeration, but it seemed funnier that way. Of course, it's probably only funny to me, but at least I was entertained for a few moments. Anyone have any to add?!? Or am I the only one that could use a little normalcy ( or at least as close as it comes around here)!!
