Big girl backpack

We did some school shopping yesterday afternoon, and the kids all got new backpacks. Brady has always loved the messenger style, so that's what he got. Avery liked the expensive ones with lots of padding. Chloe found several that she liked, but I could tell she was torn. Finally she said, "I want a big girl backpack. Not one with anyone on it." Now, I did say she couldn't have one with Hannah Montana, but other than that, I didn't care. At first she saw a tinkerbell and a princess backpack, both of which she wanted, but then she decided on a big girl one. The one she chose is really cute and girly, but I still can't get over what she said. She's in kindergarten people!! Next year she'll probably want an all black backpack!!

Now that's a lot of Polly Pockets!

When your five year old daughter is staying with grandparents and tells you that she got a big bag of polly pockets, believe her.

My new favortie picture of Chloe

I just had to put this on here today, because I'm missing this little girl right now. She's at my parents for a few days. The rest of us went white water rafting this weekend with some friends, and had a blast. I can't believe I've never been before. Chloe isn't quite old enough, and it would not interest her even if she was. It was fun to get to do something with just the boys, that's a little more their speed.
We're off to our next adventure tomorrow. We're going to Lake Winnepesaukah. I haven't been since fifth grade, but I'm looking forward to sharing it with my kids.

I am SO not ready for this!

Someone is very excited about getting to play football in a few weeks!

*Someone is not.
*it's really me that's not excited, but i don't have a current picture of me pouting!

Brady has been looking forward to playing football most of his life. I think when you start out life weighing 9lbs. 9oz., people just assume you should play football. I can remember playing around with Brady one time when he was two, and I was shocked at how hard he tackled me. I can't remember a time when he hasn't talked about playing football. He's getting to play a year earlier than we had originally planned because this year he'll be one of the older ones. If we hold him off another year, he'll be playing against giant middle schoolers! I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to watch him play, but I can promise you that I'll be praying...A LOT!!

Thanks for sharing.

A few weeks ago, Chloe was eating some cheetos with her lunch, and I asked if I could have one. She said no, and really meant it. So, when she got done with lunch, she brought me the bag, and said that I could have the rest. I told her thank you, and asked her to put it on the counter for me. A few minutes later, I looked in the bag, and this is what I found. At least she shared!

Funny story

I was telling my mom about getting pictures of an inch worm the other day, and she reminded me of a funny story. I've always loved these little guys (bugs in general when i was a kid!), and one day in church, I looked down and found one on my hand. I don't remember how old I was, but apparently I was young enough to still need to be occupied during church. Anyway, I was having fun watching the inch worm crawl around my hand, when my Nanny (my great-grandmother) reached over and patted my hands. I think she noticed me sitting there quietly, and was impressed, so she patted my hand and smiled at me. I did my best to smile back, but I looked at my mom, horrified because the inch worm was no more. I remember my mom doing her best to tell me to not say anything, with just the look in her eyes. I think I just sat there in shock for a few minutes. My Nanny never knew about the inch worm, or why I was sitting there so sweetly, but the memory has stayed with me, and it always makes me smile!
The way I think about this story has changed over the years. As a mom, I can just imagine what was going through my mom's mind as she silently pleaded with me to keep quiet. That thought makes me smile even more!!
