More football and cross country

Brady got some playing time on varsity again this week.  He wasn't pleased with his performance in the jv game, but he's ready to show 'em next week.
Avery had another big race today.  It was a tough course, with lots of hills, but he did great.  He ran it in 19.14.

Chloe is playing tennis!

Chloe is taking some group tennis lessons.  She is thrilled!  I'm happy with the commitment because it's only four days total.  If she keeps loving it, I'm sure she'll be asking to do it again.

Voyles Classic

Avery had another meet yesterday.  It was a big meet, with two boys races and two girls races, and each race had 15-20 teams.  It was all varsity, and each team could have 10 runners.  It was also a qualifier for the midstate team.  Avery's not really in the running for it this year, but I'm sure he'll aim for it in another year or two.  He improved on his time from the last meet, but it's still slower than he was hoping.  This course was mostly flat, so he was really hoping for a personal best.  It was very hot and humid, so I'm sure that affected the runners because I was exhausted just standing in the sun to cheer them on!

No pictures of Brady because he's been sick most of the week with a sinus infection, so he not only missed his jv game but also three days of school.  After staying home on Monday, we pushed him to go back to school Tuesday, thinking that he would feel better as the day went on, because that's how it went the day before.  Of course, that's not how it happened.  He stayed at school and even went to the varsity game, but then came home with a fever.  Grrr.  But what Brady would want you to know more than anything else, is that he got to play in the varsity game and got a SACK!

Macon County meet

Woohoo look at those white legs!  (couldn't help it)
this was somewhere past the two mile mark
This is a very hilly, tough course.  It was also very hot by the time they ran.  Avery ran it in 19min 43sec, and finished 47th out of 136 varsity runners.  He was third on his team.  Even though we thought he did great, Avery wasn't happy with his time.  It was over a minute slower than his personal best.  He's using it as motivation for his next meet this Thursday.  The next course is very flat and fast, so he's hoping for a much faster time.

football pics

Here Brady's actually tripping on his team mate, but I like the picture anyway.

Brady recovered a fumble, and he wasn't the one to fumble!

Brady is loving football.  I'm sure no one is surprised at this.  I knew he would, but I still hoped that he would hate it.  He gets a little playing time at varsity, but jv is what he really looks forward to.  He loves it because he gets to hit.

track pictures

These first two pictures are of the 4x800. Avery ran the first leg this time, so he could have more time to rest before the mile. There was only one race in between, and it was one of the shorter races.

This is the last part of the mile. Avery and this other kid battled it out until the very last sec. The race was so close that I wasn't sure who won until they handed the number 1 to Avery. He loves a photo finish!
