Here's the picture of our new floor. They sent some different guys out today to fix the floor. They decided to rip up a portion of the hallway and redo it. My problem with that is now seems more like a repaired floor then a new one. I really need your help with this one. I'm posting this picture because I need your honest opinion about the floor. By this point Keith and I are being overly critical because we want it done right, but I'm interested to see what you all think. I can clearly see the new wood, and it really bothers me. Please tell me what you guys think. Should this pass for a brand new hardwood floor?
These aren't the best pictures, and the floor is obviously still dirty. I'm going to take a picture of the dining room today, which we love the way it turned out. I'll also get another picture of the hallway once the weights are out of the way. They kept weight on it last night to help it stay down. We're going to see if the owner of the restoration company will come out and look at the floor also. I really want to know what he thinks. He called us yesterday to see if we were happy with it, but they were still here, so we didn't say one way or the other. The guys were here working from about 7:30 to a little after 6:00. It was a long day upstairs.

That is a LONG day upstairs. OK, here is what I see. In the top picture to me it is clear there are about 4 or so boards that don't seem to "flow." The second picture seems like a weird angle or something to me so I don't know. The third picture everything actually looks fine to me. Sorry if that didn't help but that is honestly what I see. Good Luck with this. I am so sorry about all your trouble!
I agree with Mindy on the pictures. I would not settle if you are that unhappy about it, because you will probably be there for a long time, and will be sick of looking at it. On the other hand, if Keith was to transfer to UT, you could sell, and start over...Just a thought!
I can see 4 boards that are a bit darker than the rest in the first picture ... the second picture I can't tell if that lighter spot is from the flash or not but I cna see some color differences ... and the third picture looks fine from that angle. But I think if you have any doubt you should do something about it now and not wait for a few months to pass and then regret later. I wish I had stuck up for what I knew was wrong and not the way I had ordered, you pay all that money so it should be done right, don't worry if they think you are a pain ... cause once your floor is done right you won't have to see them on a daily basis like you would that floor=)
I am the one who deleted my comment because I misspelled too many words!! I don't like the way the first picture looks. It is too obvious that it has been repaired. The following pics look better, but it is difficult to tell. Make sure they do the work right...Do not feel bad for being overly critical.
I agree with the first vs third opinions.
I agree that in the first picture you can see about four darker boards, but the third picture seems fine. The bottom line is that you should be happy regardless of the effort it is taking on the part of the workers. It should have been replaced right the first time and this wouldn't be a problem. I've just settled on so many things like this that now I try to be a little more picky. After all you are paying (or the insurance company is) to have it done right.
