Wow, I've actually done this two weeks in a row. I wasn't sure if that would happen or not. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty impressed. Of course, it doesn't take much to impress me. Anyway, my cd player/radio in my kitchen is really one of my favorite things. I listen to it pretty much every day. I've never wanted a tv in my kitchen, but I really love listening to music while I'm washing dishes or cooking supper. The kids even enjoy it, at least while they still listen to the same music!

Through the eyes of a child.
Chloe and I always enjoy looking outside and enjoying nature while we eat. We have a bird feeder that you can almost see at the bottom of this picture, and when it's warmer we have a hummingbird feeder as well. We like to watch the birds, and I name the ones I know, (which isn't many). Well, one day, she points something out to me. She pointed to a branch, and said, "It looks like people sitting on that branch." (can you see it? if not, i've tried to describe it down below) I looked where she was pointing, and just smiled. It was as clear as day, once she mentioned it. I look outside often, but don't always notice the little things. I just love being able to see what she sees. I love how amazing everything is to her. It's fun to be around, and it makes me feel like a kid again, even if it's for just a moment.
*If you click on the picture it might be easier to see. It's towards the middle of the picture. If you look at the tree on the left, look up a couple of branches above where the feeder is hanging. There's a small branch with two little round things sticking up, and a few tiny branches on the bottom. That's the people!

Friday favorites
Welcome to Friday favorites! Every Friday I'll try to share one of my favorite things with you. Some will be actual things I own. Others will be completely random things that may or may not really fit into this category.

My first favorite thing is this necklace. I got it for Christmas a couple of years ago, and have worn it most days since then. It's each of my kids' first initial, with my birthstone. I love it! It makes me feel closer to the kids somehow, especially when they're away, or if I'm just really missing them while they're at school! My sister-in-law went to college with the girl that makes them. Click here to visit her website. She has other cool jewelry as well.

Yesterday I acted like a kid, and it was great!
Yesterday, I got a lot of laundry done, and I mean A LOT! I did some other cleaning around the house. But I'm not going to remember that years from now. What I will remember is playing with my kids. Chloe and I played with a bouncy ball. We bounced it back and forth for a while before she came up with a game. She made the rules, and changed them when she felt like it. We laughed and just had fun together. I wish I had played with her longer, instead of going back to cleaning. I love the simple joys of being a kid.
And later, after supper, I stood in the kitchen with all three kids, and practiced my evil laugh. I don't know why Avery was thinking of that, or why he asked me to do it too. But, I gave him my best evil laugh, and then we spent the next ten minutes or so listening to each other give it a try. I wish I had it on video, but maybe next time. It was hilarious! Every time Avery tried it, he would end up just laughing. Chloe even got in on the action, but only after listening to us for a few minutes. I think she might have thought we were all crazy, but she probably thinks that every day anyway! The next time you need a quick ab workout, gather your kids, or husband, or friends, and practice your evil laugh. It works. It will also make you a little hoarse if you do it long enough.
So, the moral of this story is...go play with your kids! Or at least go act like one for a few minutes!
