The people who are buying our house came by for another look last night. It makes sense that they might want another look since they were only here for about fifteen minutes the first time. Is that crazy that they decided in 15 minutes that they wanted to buy the house? They've mentioned that it was the yard that sold it. That's the main reason we bought it too, so I completely understand that. It's funny what they didn't even notice the first time around. They didn't notice the glass top stove or the surround sound, and I don't think they really looked in closets. She didn't know about the little closet in the hallway (my favorite) or that we had a good size pantry. It was a little different being here while they looked around and showed their kids the house, but it was nice too. They asked us some questions about how things work and we told them some of our favorite things about the house. It's not an experience that most people get to have. It was like seeing them in their house already and I think it helps me say goodbye. It was fun seeing them excited about their new home, and seeing their kids already enjoying the backyard. Keith was able to show the husband his shed, so maybe it will help him say goodbye too. :) Their oldest boy is Brady's age and they actually played on the same soccer team last fall. It's such a small world! Anyway, he was playing video games with my boys most of the time they were here. It's funny how different kids and adults view things. It was a little weird at first for us, but the kids never noticed that. They immediately started playing together. When they were looking in the boys' room, Avery told them that the closet is really big, but it just looks small because it was messy!! What a little salesman! Chloe was the only one not excited about the evening, but it was mostly because she was tired. She was also very protective of her big pink ball. She didn't care about the house, just her toys!!
So, because of how quickly the house sold, and the fact that we know who's buying it, I have a question. How clean do I leave the house? Obviously I will vacuum and sweep, and clean the bathrooms and kitchen, but I just don't know exactly what to do. Do I pull the stove out and clean behind it? Do I clean all the windows and window sills? Do I clean the carpet? These are all things I was planning on doing before we listed the house, so now I don't know what to do. When we lived in base houses, we had to have an inspection to make sure it was clean, and so I keep thinking that's what we have to do now. Plus, I have to keep in mind that I will still see her at curves this summer before we move. I wouldn't want to leave it dirty for anyone, but it just adds a little more pressure. I'm going to be so glad when this is over.
I just wanted to give you all an update on the new house. We almost have a foundation!! They have all the plumbing done, and now we are waiting on a few dry days so they can pour the foundation. This process is so slow! Maybe it's just that I'm so impatient...

Well, here is my input. I took about 15 minutes and decided I wanted our house. We had some problems with the people selling it, like not letting us take a last look at it and not moving out until the morning we were suppose to move in. In the end they left it in a mess, and when I first walked in to the house I cried saying, "What have I done". Obviously she is going to fix it to her liking, but just keep in mind how you would want a house to look if you bought it. I learned two things in that experience. I will look at more houses next time (shop around) and I have rights as the home buyer to do a final walk through and make sure they are out on time(Real estate class). The bottom line, be respectful and clean.
Oh yes yes. Do unto others...I always (i can say that) clean & scrub the house from very top to bottom before moving. The fridge has never been so clean as it is the day we move out. So exciting about your house!
I agree. Plus, you'll find the cleaning much easier once your stuff is out!!
I feel somewhat misunderstood. I'm definitely going to clean the house. I just wasn't sure of the extent to which I need to clean it. People have different definitions of clean. Plus, if we ever buy an existing house, I would feel the need to clean on my own anyway. I just felt the need to clarify.
I doubt that you guys are very messy anyway, but I do think that it is nice to vacuum (I usuallly shampoo) the carpets really well, clean those bathrooms and the kitchen. I don't know that I would go so far as to cleaning the windows, etc. I know that I always clean the house that I bought really well before I move in. You just want to make sure that any touch upa are done prior to an final walkthrough. I also think that during an inspection if the house looks well cared for then it will work to your advantage. Like I said, I doubt you have a messy house!! Good luck. This is an exciting time, Haley
Not the least bit strange buying a house that fast! We decided on this house from the picture in the paper! You always recognize "home"! I, too, am excited about your new home. As I told you, leaving our first purchased house was traumatic! I wrote the new family a "love letter" telling them how special the house was to us. We moved in when Renee was barely one and I was four months pregnant with Lance. The new couple had a little girl about two and they were expecting their second. At the closing, she hugged me (as much as two pregnant ladies can
!) and told me the letter meant so much to them. Wonder where they are now? Probably telling stories to their grown children!
I would clean like you usually do, but I wouldn't move the appliances to clean behind them. I doubt they will even look behind/beneath the stove. I would take the vacuum attachment to the windows, but I would not clean them or the blinds. Just remove all the dust! Some people do not understand that if you touch the items not dusted that you will then have to dust because of the finger prints:-)
I know you said the builders need a few dry days but I hope your country raising (yes, in the country we still "raise" not "rear" children!) kicks in as I am thanking God for this lovely rainy day! The farmers also are needing aome dry weather to plant in but the late freeze has damaged so much! The normally beautifully green winter wheat is yellow on top-not the June-gold but frost-
bitten yellow. Pray for the farmers as we experience poverty and devastation in the USA also!
Whar in the cat hair do I know about weather? Rainy day? Ha! The sky is now bluw with puffy white clouds! I could be a meteorologist with my record! Best luck for your builders!
Last comment! Honest! Gusty winds, storm clouds, and God's future plans which cannot be predicted.
We are going through the same thing ...Thad has already started packing and we will have to clean the whole place and shampoo the carpets ... I hope our new house will be clean ... I plan on going through and cleaning myself just so I know for sure it is clean but it helps to not see years of dirt under stuff and in the windows. I would just use the vacuum for everything. No need to get the Mr. Clean out, I'm sure she'll do that before they move in. Also, say prayres because this closing has been really rough getting everything done in time! So excited about your new house ... send pics!
